Weddings at Wrest Park

IN THEIR WORDS

“Think of a grand French chateau in miniature. The grounds of Wrest Park are adorned with stunning lawns, wooded walks and flower gardens, dotted with fountains, statues and ornate follies. If you yearn for stunning historic surroundings, mixing elegant French architecture with a grand and picturesque landscape, then Wrest Park is your ideal wedding day location”

IN MY WORDS

I grew up visiting Wrest Park as a child, when I think back to those times I am filled with magical memories of a place that felt like it was from another time. Epic games of hide and seek along with lazy Sunday picnics, daydreaming about swimming in the waters and living in the house. Opulence and History with little nooks to explore and get lost in, no wonder it’s an English Heritage site. Now I get to experience it as a parent and a wedding photographer and it still has the ability to leave me spell bound and awe struck. With it’s great children’s play park and yummy tea room, the venue has become a favourite for me and my family. I have only had the pleasure of shooting one wedding here, but now I have had that honour I am greedy for more!!

Weddings at Wrest Park

WHERE IS IT LOCATED

Wrest Park is situated in the village of Silsoe, Bedfordshire. It’s only 12 miles from Luton London Airport, so super handy for those guests who may need to travel to the wedding.

PERFECT FOR WEDDINGS ON A GRAND SCALE

You can not escape the impact that Wrest Park has on its visitors and you really wouldn’t want to. This venue suits couples who are willing to embrace all of its beautiful rich history. The Drawing Room which can hold 60 guests for a service, has the most stunning blue and gold wall paper, fabulously framing your wedding photos with true opulence. And don’t forget to look up!

The Ante Library & Terrace can hold 150 guests and is the perfect spot for drinks, with the grounds of Wrest park calling through its high doors, this central room really is the heart of the building, connecting each room with true style. For your wedding breakfast you have the option of the Library which can seat 100 guests. In true Wrest Park style, the Library’s rich green walls give this room such warmth and the gold etched plasterwork creates a sense of grandeur that will leave your guests feeling utterly indulged for the day.  For those holding a larger wedding you have the light and bright Orangery (up to 170 guests) or The American Garden Marquee Site where you can seat up to 1000 guests, (yes you read the right!!)

BEST SPOTS FOR WEDDING PHOTOS

I don’t think you can take a bad photo at this venue. When I have shot here I felt so lucky that every moment was framed with such beauty and history, it really makes my job easy! The venue sits within 92 acres of award winning gardens. Some of my favourite beauty spots are the Archer Pavilion which has a lush runway of water leading up to it, and the Chinese bridge. Both the front and the back of the house offer different views and there is even a small wild garden area. Inside the house you have many spots for couple photos and group shots, so if the weather wasn’t on your side, you would still get some stunning shots with lots of choice!

Wedding Photography Tip – Allow for extra time! For your couple photos I would strongly advise allowing a decent amount of time to make use of the grounds stunning beauty spots.

The venue can offer a buggy to wizz you around the grounds to speed up the process but I would advise you would need at least 40 minutes if you want to capture all of it’s treasures.
