“A gorgeous 17th century manor house at the end of a sweeping drive way in the quaint village of Great Offley. Tucked away on the edge of Hertfordshire sitting on the top of a hill in the centre of the parish of Offley”
IN MY WORDS
For me, there are many reasons why I love Offley Place. It is the perfect country house for a wedding venue, offering exclusive use, so you really get to be lord of the manor for a special day. It has great light, beautiful venue details, a stunning and roomy bridal suite, architectural history and gorgeous grounds which including a perfectly tended rose garden. And then there is the staff!! Every time I shoot at Offley the staff are just AMAZING! Louise and Jack know exactly what they are doing and they do it with such ease. They are a real friendly bunch and it’s a testament to the venue that it’s the same faces I see each year I shoot there.
WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
Offley Place is in the village of Offley, near Hitchin Hertfordshire. It’s conveniently located with great transport links to both Hitchin and Luton, with London Luton Airport being less than 15mins away, so great for those guests who may need to travel from a far to the wedding.
Being a grade 2 listed building, it definitely suits traditional weddings, but what is great about Offley Place is that it doesn’t impose it’s sense of history onto couples. I have seen a real mix of weddings held here and I really feel it’s a venue where couples are able to stamp their own unique style and taste on their day. The venue has a mixture of different spaces available, so you can opt for a smaller intimate wedding and hold the service in the ‘Spencer Restaurant or Rose View Suit’ (60 Guests) or you can hold a larger celebration in the Conservatory (120 guests) or their brand new Hester Ballroom (250 guests.
PICTURE PERFECT SPOTS
There are so many spots for photographs at Offley Place not only inside the manor house, but outside. The grounds (all 27 acres of it!!) are littered with huge trees and open space, so you can sneak away from your guests for those more intimate couple photos. They also have the well tended ‘Rose Gardens’, every season it offers up different flowers and colours for us to shoot against. Or If you fancy a less traditional look then you can venture to the wild garden, where they have long grass and some great textures and outhouse’s to shoot against, these offer a more contemporary look to that of the Rose garden, but what I love is that you don’t have to choose, you get to have both! Offley Place is also a venue that works if you end up with rain on your wedding day. It has the stunning staircase, along with some great welcome rooms with wonderful light filling doors in one and opulent wallpaper and décor in the other.
