MY PHOTOGRAPHY MANIFESTO

MY PHOTOGRAPHY MANIFESTO

This is my guide to myself — the approach I follow every time I pick up my camera. I hope it also gives insight into how I work and what I value, whether you’re a client, a fellow photographer, or just curious about my process..

Prioritise real over perfect. Focus on what’s true in the moment — whether calm, chaotic, quiet, or joyful.

Stay hands-off, unless invited in. Follow the natural flow of the day.

Step in with guidance only when needed or requested.

As much as I can, capture what really happens, not what I make happen.

Celebrate all moments. The little moments are just as valuable as the big ones

Treat every couple as unique. Never assume, never generalise. Take time to understand who they are.

Be inclusive. Welcome every couple, every family, every story.

Communicate with clarity. Set expectations, explain the process, and build trust through openness.

Make people comfortable. Create safe spaces where couples feel at ease, because authenticity only happens when people relax.

Be flexible. Adapt to changes, embrace the unexpected, and go with the flow.

Put people before products. Photograph relationships and details as they’re being lived in, not as static objects.

Read the room. Guests have their own tolerance for photography — be respectful of that too.

Protect time, Give moments time to unfold. Give people time to relax. Give yourself time to be creative.

Be reliable. Show up on time, stay organised, and deliver what you promised. Always have backup gear and plans.

Care after the day. Deliver images on schedule, follow up thoughtfully, and ensure the final gallery tells the whole story.

Keep growing. Learn from every wedding. Experiment, refine, and stay curious.

Remember the legacy. These photographs will outlive the day — they’re part of someone’s family history. Treat them with care.

You and your clients are enough. You don’t need to be more or less of anything.
