Offley Place Wedding

Wedding Photography, Offley Place, Hitchin

Here is a little first look at Laura and James’s wedding photography at Offley Place, at one of my all time favourite venues!

Now, James made it very clear to me on his first email that his bride to be was ‘extremely camera shy’. Thats ok I thought, a lot of my clients say the same. When I met them both for the first time I realised, what James actually meant is that Laura HATED (with an impressive passion!) having her photo taken.

So no engagement shoot for this couple, the thought alone made Laura shake with horror. And Laura was adamant that she didn’t want any photos of her getting ready and even though I cried a little inside, (Offley Place’s bridal suite is stunning with the most perfect light!!), I knew it was the right decision for her. So it’s fair to say I was expecting a little challenge on the day. But you know what, Laura was a superstar! I honestly had so much fun with these two. The weather was amazing, there were lawn games, little bat boys, a wonderful mix of family and friends and an awesome band to finish of the night.
I still think Laura will tell you she HATES having her photo taken, but I really enjoyed taking her pic!
Congratulations guys x

Jade and Cyrus | First look Wedding photos

Here is a little first look at Jade and Cyrus’s big day. It was such a fab day, full of fun, love and the coming together of different cultures. I love being part of peoples wedding days, they are all so unique and special, and this one really lived up to that, bringing elements of both their heritage into their wedding day.

The Priory, Hitchin Wedding Photos

Wedding Photographs from St Marys Church Hitchin and The Priory, Little Wymondley

I’ve been really excited to share these photos for so many different reasons. When I first heard Mark and Rachael’s wedding plans I knew it was going to be a good one! They chose to get married in my lovely home town of Hitchin, at the one and only St Marys Church. If you know Hitchin, then you will know this is basically the heart of the town. I’ve lived in Hitchin for 5 years now and had been waiting for the day I would get to shoot in St Marys, so when their enquiry came in I had all my fingers and toes crossed they would pick me. Luckily for me they did, as their day had so many touching and special moments.

Rachael’s dad not only had the honour of giving her away, but he actually got to marry her as well. Can you imagine how special that would feel!! They held the reception at The Priory Barn, little Wymondley. As we were blessed with beautiful sun for most of the day, the grounds gave us so many little nooks to shoot in.

I have to say when I was editing these photos I found myself smiling so much. I think a smile is a little bit like a yawn, when you see someone with a huge smile across their face, it’s hard not to copy it. And that sums this day up, not only did Mark and Rachael have smiles on their faces the whole day, but their guests did too. It was impossible to miss and I hope these photos capture what a special day it was.

A little shout out to the awesome wedding band ‘The Nameless Three’ they were amazing!

Sarah and Damien, Wedding at Latimer Place.

Here is a little first look, at the wonderful wedding of Sarah and Damien at Latimer Place. These two were SO relaxed and chilled out. Even when their little boy decided to hide in Sarah’s wedding dress during the service, they just cracked up and carried on. Getting married when you have children is not easy, I’ve seen with my own eyes just how hard it can be to juggle everything from getting ready to socialising with guests, eating your wedding breakfast to dancing with your partner. Kids don’t make any of this an easy task! But what was so lovely to see was the love and pride Damien and Sarah have not only for each other, but for their boys. Throughout the day I caught little moments when each of them took time to focus on their kids, involving them through the service and just ensuring that they knew that their wedding day was about not just about Sarah and Damien, it was about the four of them.

Congratulations!!!

Now for something slightly different!

Last month I got the chance to try out a little project that I have been toying with for sometime. I switched from shooting stills to shooting film! Well sort of.
When I first decided to get into wedding photography I kept thinking that maybe I should be doing wedding videography, as that was actually my background. I have always loved making and watching films, I studied film making at Uni, and I have made a few videos for CP Creative over the years, I even filmed on stage at Glastonbury!Last year I heard about a wedding photographer who offered a 3min highlights video along with her photography package, and not only that, she was really good at it! Now, this idea excited and petrified me all in one go. It has been rumbling around my head since then and I can’t seem to shake the feeling that this is something I could be offering. When my good friend and awesome photographer Jo asked me to second shoot for her we started to talk about the possibility of filming some of it too. I knew I wanted to do it but it was a bit of an experiment, I had only ever shot photography at a wedding, I worried I might not get enough and didn’t want too miss certain moments of the day if it all went wrong. We ran the idea passed the wonderful Sophie and Hamish and to my pleasure, they were happy to let me give it a shot! For the service I stuck to shooting photographs just incase it all went tits up, Jo ultimately hired me as a second shooter and I didn’t want to sacrifice any key moments for my little experiment!
So here it is, along with a few stills from the day. I learned a lot doing and I loved making it. It reminded me of what I love about making videos! Thank you so much to Sophie and Hamish for letting me dip my toes into wedding videography. It was such good fun to be part of their day and I hope they enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it.

Wedding at The Farmhouse at Redcoats, Hitchin

Holy smokes, this wedding was amazing! Catherine and Mike pulled off the ultimate chilled out, outdoor, stunning, summer wedding. IN APRIL! Everything about their day was just beautiful. They tied the knot at one of my favourite local venues, The Farmhouse at Redcoats and when the weather looked like it was set to be a record breaking scorcher they decided to get married outside. The venue looked so beautiful and I kid you not, Catherine looked like an actual film star, perfectly paired with her handsome beau. One of my favourite moments of the day was when her friends gifted her and Mike a Cat (yes a cat!). It was a fab moment to capture. Mike is the kind of guy that you can’t help but smile around and he had his guests roaring with laughter throughout his speech. When I received these lovely words from them shortly after the wedding, I did my little happy dance.

“What can we say ?!
I have never seen anyone work as hard as you did on Saturday !!
Thank you for being so accommodating and adaptable to our different requests. We are sorry it got chaotic at some points, but you handled it so we well, and we really do appreciate it. Thank you for being so aware of us, and sensing when we needed a moment to ourselves to take it all in. One of our highlights of the day was the 30minutes we spent with you in the Garden capturing the emotion of what we had just been through….We hope our paths cross again soon and would not hesitate to recommend you to any of our Family & Friends. All the best Mike & Catherine

Jennifer and Dean – Coltsfoot Wedding, Hertfordshire

March, the perfect time for a spring wedding. Daisies, lush green fields, and SNOW! Yes that’s right, Snow. Jennifer and Dean had their spring wedding perfectly planned, but the weather had it’s own day install for them.

The service was held at St Michael’s Church in St Albans, while the reception was at Coltsfoot Country Retreat. Jen looked absolutely stunning and her and Dean were amazing. They didn’t let the cold weather stop them getting some amazing shots and even when our hands and fingers couldn’t feel anything they were still smiling!

“Erica helped us through the entire process and went out of her way to get to know us as individuals, and to understand our photographic needs. She was keen to meet our requirements, and advised us when we were not making good choices. The wedding day was very difficult, -1c with a wind chill of -8c. Despite difficult conditions Erica captured some magical moments outdoors, and improvised when needed to ensure guests were all kept comfortable. We were amazed with the results!!”

Here is a little highlights video showing their day in all its wonderful glory!

The Farmhouse at Redcoats, Wedding, Hitchin

My First wedding at The Farmhouse at Redcoats in Hitchin.

I feel very lucky to live in Hitchin, we have some wonderful wedding venues close to my beautiful little town, but when The Farmhouse at Redcoats had a little make over last year, I was very excited! Not only is Redcoats less than 10 minutes away from me, it literally oozes style and makes the perfect wedding venue for some quirky and alternative couples on their big day.

I got to shoot my first wedding this year there and the venue certainly lived up to my exceptions. The barn looked stunning, and even though it was the beginning of the year and the amount of natural light was, lets say, a little limiting, the venue stood it’s own! I was also able to use my Nikon D850 is all its’ powerful glory, ensuring I didn’t need to flash around the venue, and could continue to discreetly capture the day.

“Thank you so much for those first look pics, they are AMAZING!! We both had a look at them earlier and every single one of them is amazing, what a lovely way to relive the day!!”

Here are a few photos from the day.

Lauren and Mark Wedding Photos at Hexton Manor.

What an absolute blast Lauren and Marks wedding was! It was set in the beautiful Hexton Manor near Hitchin and we were spoilt with beautiful weather and glorious surroundings. Lauren and Mark are the kind of of couple that are a true pleasure to photograph, they laugh so much with each other which is infectious and beautiful to capture. Here are a few from the day.

Erica has high emotional intelligence and great sense of humour which enabled her to capture the genuine moments of our day. We loved our photos so much and I always enjoy looking at all the other weddings she shoots on her excellent Facebook and Instagram pages. She is the queen of the candid shot which makes every photo shoot unique. – Lauren and Mark

Jessie and Mike – Pies, Pints and Ceilidh Dancing

I can’t tell you how much I love Jessie and Mike. Jessie is my cousin and one of my best friends and I have been excited about her wedding to Mike before they even knew they were getting married. It lived up to my expectation and they pulled off this super cool chilled out wedding day in pure Jessie and Mike style! I love you both so much. xxxx
